T-Govt Provides Whatsapp No. To Complain Against Overcharging Hospitals

Amidst growing concerns and complaints of private hospitals charging whopping bills to Covid-19 patients, the Health and Medical department of Telangana has asked the patients to register their complaints to the state government through Whatsapp.

The Telangana state government today announced that it would take complaints against private hospitals and their expensive bills on the whatsapp number “9154170960”. It asked the patients and their kin to approach freely. The Health and Medical department said that it would crack down the private hospitals who are violating the norms.

On an average, a private hospital is charging about 1 lakh per bed per day for ICU and it is going upto 2 lakhs in multispeciality hospitals which have special facilities and high demand. The other expenses, medications, food, oxygen charges are all additional. As there is hue and cry about the costly bills in private hospitals, finally, the government has taken a welcome initiative.
