The Centre has come up with fresh rules stating that the vaccination for coronavirus can be taken three months after recovery. Also, the second dose of the Covid vaccine should be postponed to three months for anyone contracting the disease after the first dose. Earlier, we were given no such particular gap for taking a vaccine in such situations.
When such situations occurred, patients had followed the advice of individual physicians who often recommends a gap of 2-4 weeks. Now, the new rules are recommended by the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for COVID-19 led by NITI Aayog member Dr VK Paul accepted by the Union health ministry.
Also, lactating women are recommended to get vaccinated. It’s been not even a week since the government increased the gap between two doses of the Covishield vaccine from six to eight weeks to 12 to 16 weeks. India has reported 2.67 lakh new cases today, taking the overall count to 2.54 crore and the number of active cases to 1,27,046. It is petrifying that though the numbers have been on a downward movement over the last weeks, the fatality rate rose in a worrisome manner.
With more than 4529 deaths due to Covid over last 24 hours, India has breached the highest daily deaths record registered by the US in January, which had 4475 deaths.
