Jagan Turns Down PK’s Request?

Five major factors that led YS Jaganmohan Reddy to the CM chair were his extensive Padayatra, Navaratnalu, the idea of giving one turn to Jagan – ‘Okka Chance’, the anti-incumbency against Chandrababu Naidu’s government and then his political advisor Prashant Kishor’s strategies along with the choice of candidates.

PK’s guidance did act as a major help to Jagan and improved his chances of winning. Thus, Jagan secured a massive and historic victory of 151 MLAs and 22 MPs out of 175 Assembly seats and 25 Parliamentary seats respectively. In fact, even Jagan’s veteran father and late YS Rajasekhar Reddy couldn’t do such a feat against rival TDP.

Now cut to the chase, Prashant Kishor has been playing a crucial role in uniting the opposition parties against the Narendra Modi-led BJP. As the likes of Mamata Banerjee, Sharad Pawar and Sonia, Rahul Gandhi want Modi to lose next time, PK is trying his best to unite the forces against BJP.

As part of it, PK is trying to reach out to Telangana CM KCR and AP CM YS Jagan. KCR is indecisive to be part of the front which is likely to project Rahul Gandhi as the PM candidate since TRS has a direct fight with the Congress in Telangana along with the BJP. On the other hand, Jagan is said to be in no mood to heed to PK this time around.

YS Jagan is said to be maintaining cordial relations with the Modi & Shah duo. He also wants the support of the Centre for the cash-strapped state for the next few years. At the same time, Jagan has no good opinion about the Congress that was behind jailing him after his father’s death and subsequent political developments. Jagan wants to stay a healthy distance from both the NDA and UPA front so that he could play a vital role in case of a hung parliament in the next general elections. On the other hand, TDP is in a big dilemma. Even Chandrababu Naidu who had joined hands with the Congress & co in 2019 to fight against BJP is now maintaining stoic silence as he is not sure which side he would like to take at the Centre for the next polls. So, PK and team are clueless on how to go about in the Telugu states.

PK has advised the likes of Mamata, Sharad Pawar and Gandhis that a strong and fierceful opponent is key to take on Modi. PK is of the opinion that the time is little to build support for the opponent candidate to fight Modi and the work for 2023 should begin from now. So, Jagan may stay out of PK’s Mission 2023.
