How Much Real Gold Is in Olympic Medals?

Olympic gold medals contain very little actual gold. Each medal has at least 6 grams of gold plating but is mostly made of silver, with 92.5% silver content. The rest is copper. This means the gold medal is more about honor than its metal value, which is quite low.
