A massive fraud has surfaced at Axis Bank’s Begumpet branch. Branch manager Venkataramana has been arrested by Panjagutta police. Around ₹6.5 crore was allegedly siphoned from a customer’s account using forged signatures and 42 loose-leaf cheques while the victim was abroad. Senior officials’ role is suspected, with funds diverted to other accounts. Police expect more revelations.
