SC Slams Mamata: ‘Democracy Cannot Be Put in Jeopardy’

The Supreme Court strongly criticised West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee over her alleged interference during an Enforcement Directorate raid linked to I-PAC. The court observed that a sitting CM cannot obstruct an ongoing investigation and warned that such actions may endanger democratic institutions. It said constitutional offices must respect investigative independence and avoid turning probes into political confrontations.
