UPI Charges For Merchants, Not Customers: Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has clarified that any Merchant Discount Rate on UPI transactions would apply to merchants and not customers. She said the move could help banks and fintech companies invest more in infrastructure, innovation and security. The NPCI led committee is yet to take a final decision on MDR.
