End of Sun Risers Hyderabad In IPL 2021

Sunrisers Hyderabad is an underrated yet consistent team in the history of the Indian Premier League. The franchise made its entry in 2013 and in these nine years, it had made it to the playoffs six times. SRH also won the title in 2016.

SRH is the only franchise that has qualified for the playoffs for five consecutive times, from 2016 to 2020. Thus, there were many expectations for the 2021 season. Even in this year’s auction, the franchise made only three purchases and was confident about the team’s balance.

But no one thought that the orange army will put on a dismal show right from the beginning. By the end of the league stage, it is at the bottom of the points table. The major reasons for SRH’s poor performance are lack of strong middle-order, lack of proper fast-paced bowlers, and internal conflicts.

Middle-order has always been a concern for SRH. They tried to rectify it by buying Kedhar Jadhav this season but the plan didn’t work. Jadhav played only a few games and failed to contribute enough. Experienced Manish Pandey also showcased poor form this season. Thus, the entire middle-order responsibilities fell on the shoulders of youngsters like Abhishek Sharma, Priyam Garg, and Abdul Samad.

However, the major problem for SRH has been the internal conflict with David Warner. The Australian star batter has been the backbone of SRH since 2014. He was the captain of the team and led the side for the first few matches of this edition. But due to his poor form, the management sacked him from captaincy and removed him from the team. This proved that there is an internal conflict between Warner and the management. Fans love to see Warner in orange colors and cannot imagine him in any other team. Such is his bonding with the team and its fans. But most likely, we may not see him donning SRH jersey ever again.

On the whole, the Hyderabad franchise may retain only Williamson and Rashid Khan for next season and build an entirely new squad during the mega auction. Let’s wait and see who will be part of the orange army in IPL 2022.
