BCCI has asked the existing eight IPL franchises to submit their retention lists by November 30. The retention list of each team will be announced tomorrow live on Star Sports Network. Every team can retain up to a maximum of four players each (2 overseas players maximum). For the last few days, we have been hearing a lot of speculations about each team’s retention. Reportedly, these are the players that every team will most likely retain ahead of IPL 2022.
Chennai Super Kings: MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali/Sam Curran
Delhi Capitals: Rishab Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Axar Patel, Anrich Notrje/Kagiso Rabada
Kolkata Knight Riders: Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Varun Chakravarthy and Venkatesh Iyer
Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Kieron Pollard, Surya Kumar Yadav/Ishan Kishan
Punjab Kings: Most likely no one. It is being heard that Punjab is looking forward to revamping their entire squad. Their existing captain KL Rahul may move to one of the new franchises, either Lucknow or Ahmedabad.
Rajasthan Royals: Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler
Royal Challengers Bangalore: Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell
Sunrisers Hyderabad: Kane Williamson, Rashid Khan (uncertain)
Going by this retention list, it looks like various stars like David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer may enter the mega auction pool which will most likely be held in early February 2022.
