IPL 2022 To Start Today

The mega cricket tournament in the world, the Indian Premier League is back. The 2022 edition of IPL is all set to begin today. Two new teams, Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans have been inducted into the league, making it a ten-team tournament now. This is the first time after 2011 that IPL is featuring 10 teams in an edition.

A total of 74 matches will be played this season. Each team will play 14 matches. The teams are virtually divided into two groups. A team will play two games each with all the other four teams in its group and two games against one team from the other group. It plays one match each with the rest of the four teams in the other group.

In this way, every team will play 14 matches each. The top four teams on the points table will qualify for the playoffs. This time, all the games will be held in Mumbai and Pune. While Wankhede, DY Patil and Brabourne Stadium will host the games in Mumbai, MCA Stadium will be the match venue in Pune.

Defending Champions Chennai Super Kings will take on defending runners-up Kolkata Knight Riders in the first match that is going to be held tonight. While Ravindra Jadeja will lead CSK, Shreyas Iyer will lead KKR.

The match starts at 07.30 PM IST. It will be telecasted on Star Sports Network and streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.
