Umran Malik: Hyderabad’s New ‘Chote Miyan’

2/39, 0/39, 0/29, 1/39, 2/27, 4/28, 1/13, 5/25…These are the bowling figures of Umran Malik in this edition of IPL. In the first four matches, his economy rate was high but the progress he showed in the last four matches was exceptional. Umran Malik has now turned out to be a dangerous bowler in the league and also a superstar for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In the match held against Gujarat Titans last night, Malik scalped five wickets and registered his first fifer in the IPL. His spell of 5/25 also remains the best bowling spell of this season.

Umran debuted in the league in the last phase of the 2021 edition. He showed some sparks with his speed. SRH was confident about his talent and retained him for Rs. 4 crores. In the initial games of this season, he leaked a lot of runs.

But once he started bowling wicket-to-wicket, batters are unable to catch his lightning speed and threw away their wickets. Malik scalped 15 wickets so far in this season.

Malik’s wickets of Shreyas Iyer and Wriddhiman Saha remain among the best deliveries of this season. Malik also registered the fastest ball in every match he played until now.

With the progress he is showing, many people are now asking the BCCI to groom him well in the next few months and induct him into the T20 World Cup squad.
