Indian Women Cricket Team ends it’s journey in World Cup

Indian women cricket team’s tough luck in the ICC tournaments continues. After performing brilliantly in the league stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup, Team India lost to Australia in the semi-final of the tournament. India was at the top of the game until most part of the match but Australia came back hard and won the game by 5 runs.

While batting first, Australia made 172/4 in 20 overs. Handy knocks from Beth Mooney, captain Meg Lanning and Ashley Gardner helped the Aussies in getting a big total. It was a tough target for India and it lost the first three wickets for just 29 runs.

That’s when captain Harmanpreet Kaur and batter Jemimah Rodrigues made a partnership of 70 runs in just 40 balls and brought back India to the chase. But once both of them got out, no other player stepped up and eventually, India lost by five runs.

This is the fifth consecutive time India lost in the semifinal/final of an ICC tournament, since 2017.

  1. Lost against England in the final of World Cup 2017
  2. Lost against England in the semifinal of T20 World Cup 2018
  3. Lost against Australia in the final of T20 World Cup 2020
  4. Lost against Australia in the final of Common Wealth Games 2022
  5. Lost against Australia in the semifinal of T20 World Cup 2023

We have to see when this losing streak in the ICC tournament ends for India.
