Is Bollywood Bringing Back Its Romantic Era?

After the blockbuster success of Saiyaara, producer Aditya Chopra is planning to bring romantic films back into focus with an exciting lineup from 2027. As per the update, Yash Raj Films is developing multiple love stories with noted directors Ali Abbas Zafar, Mohit Suri and Maneesh Sharma.

Going into detail, Ali Abbas Zafar will direct Ahaan Panday and Sharvari in a romantic musical set against a gangster backdrop. The shooting of the film has already begun in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Mohit Suri is reuniting with the Saiyaara pair, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, for another romantic film. Unlike their previous outing, this project will be set against a college backdrop.

Maneesh Sharma of Band Baaja Baraat fame will direct Ambrish Varma and Sara Arjun in a romantic saga set in Punjab. Apart from these three projects, Aditya Chopra is also developing a big-budget triangular love story with top stars, and it will go on floors in summer 2027.

With Saiyaara proving the box-office potential of musical love stories, Aditya Chopra seems keen to revive YRF’s traditional romance formula for a new generation of audiences. After the dominance of films like Dhurandhar, one can say that Bollywood is getting back to its romantic era in a big way.
