Sunrisers Hyderabad played their opening game of the IPL season against Kolkata Knight Riders and put on a show with the bat in the second innings while chasing 209. But pressure got the better of the men in orange as they ended up losing the game in the last over.
After being set a formidable target of 209, Heinrich Klaasen switched on beast mode and scored 63 from 29. He was briefly supported by Shahbaz Nadeem who got 16 of 5.
With 13 needed from the last over, both Nadeem and Klaasen got out as KKR’s Harshit Rane held his nerve and bowled a superb over under immense pressure.
In the end, SRH ended up losing the game by a margin of runs and this is a hard loss to take after the blistering pinch-hitting exhibited by Klaasen. SRH has now made a gutting start to the tournament by losing the first game. The men in orange will face another formidable challenge in Hyderabad on 27 March while they take on Mumbai Indians.
