During this year’s IPL season, Hardik Pandya, newly announced captain of the Mumbai Indians, faced significant backlash for replacing the much-loved Rohit Sharma. For the first time in IPL history, a captain was booed by his own team’s supporters, as Hardik was severely criticized at the Mumbai stadium.
All this negativity took a serious toll on Hardik, resulting in a disastrous IPL season, with Mumbai finishing last in the table under his captaincy.
Fast forward to now, Hardik has scripted a historic comeback in this year’s T20 World Cup. In a viral picture, Hardik is seen with tears in his eyes after bowling the final over and winning the game for India.
Hardik bowled the all-important final over of the game, defending 16 runs to secure victory for the men in blue and end India’s 13-year wait for an ICC trophy.
From being booed by his own Mumbai Indians fans in the heart of Mumbai to winning the trophy for India by bowling the last over, Hardik has truly come a long way. This has to be one of the greatest redemption stories in India’s cricketing history.
