“Dey Father..” Ashwin reacts to his father’s ‘humiliation’ comments

Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement from all formats of International cricket. Shocking everyone, he announced the decision on the last day of the third test match in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Ashwin had reasons for announcing the retirement, but his father thinks that he was humiliated.

Ashwin’s father has alleged that his son was constantly humiliated, which may have contributed to his announcing his retirement midway through India’s ongoing tour of Australia. It looks like Ashwin did not share his decision with his family members much in advance. Moreover, he has not discussed it with anyone.

“Ashwin was on the field for 14-15 years. The sudden change – retirement – gave us really kind of a shock. At the same time, we were expecting it because humiliation was going on. How long he can tolerate all those things? Probably, he would have decided on his own,” his father said.
