The stage is set for the commencement of the Champions Trophy on the 19th of February. Ahead of the same, the BCCI has taken a pretty significant decision regarding the support systems provided to players through the course of the tournament.
Reportedly, the BCCI has decided not to allow the families of team India cricketers to travel along with them in this ICC tournament. This is a significant development, considering the fact that we usually see families travelling along with players during major tournaments. This is considered as an important support system for players.
However, considering the gravity of this ICC tournament, it appears that the BCCI has reportedly decided not to allow families to travel with the group of players.
Media reports are suggesting that players will be leaving to Dubai to take part in the tournament very soon, and they will not be accompanied by their family members. This could be a move to keep the players more focused on the game and winning the tournament.
Considering the fact that tournament will go on for only 20 days, this could be regarded a calculated move as the duration isn’t long enough for the players to experience lack of company.
In the opening game of the tournament, India will be facing Bangladesh in which appears to be a rather timid clash. The high voltage clash is on Feb 23rd when India take on Pakistan.
