The Champions Trophy 2025 is nearly done with the league stage, and the bandwagon is quickly moving to the semifinals, which are scheduled for the first week of March.
Ahead of the knockout stages, here’s a look at the situation in the points table. Host nation Pakistan has crashed out, failing to win a single game in the league stage. Pakistan’s game against Bangladesh today was washed out due to rain, which relegated the host nation to last place in Group B, even below Bangladesh.
As for India’s competition in the knockout stages, the situation is still unfolding. India could face either Australia or South Africa in the semi-final, depending on the remaining group stage results.
Australia and Afghanistan are set to clash in an upcoming league-stage match, and the result will influence the semi-final matchups. The winner of this game will have a stronger chance of facing India, while South Africa’s performance in their final group match will also play a key role in determining the opponent.
Considering Australia’s impeccable track record in ICC events, India would prefer to face South Africa or Afghanistan in the semi-final.
The tournament finale is scheduled for March 9, which will mark the end of the tournament.
