AP to host National Games in 2028

Sports minister M. Ram Prasad Reddy said that the Andhra Pradesh government is planning to host the National Games in the state in 2028.

He was speaking in the Assembly on Friday. The minister said that following the instructions of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, they are drawing the action plan to organize the National Games, with Amaravati as the host city.

This initiative will help Amaravati gain the attention of national leaders in the coming days.

In addition, setting a target of hosting the National Games would also drive in an urgency and timeframe for completion of capital works.

If works can be completed before the National Games deadline, it would also help the TDP coalition government showcase the exclusive planning of Amaravati, wherein a dedicated space has been demarcated as Sports City catering to the development of games and sporting activity.

Ram Prasad Reddy said Andhra Pradesh has introduced the best sports policy in the country. Sports quota in government jobs has increased to three per cent, he said.
