Chhaava Telugu: Despite Poor Promotions, Opens Well

At Box-Office One of the biggest hits of Bollywood this year, Chhaavaa, starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, was released in Telugu the other day. Despite poor promotions, the movie did decent business on its first day by collecting Rs. 2.9 crores gross at the box office. After Chhaava received an exceptional response in Hindi, many people on social media demanded its release in Telugu.

Top production house Geetha Arts bagged the Telugu rights of the film. However, the banner failed to promote the film well before its Telugu release. Still, Chhaava managed to do well by collecting a gross of around Rs. 2.9 crores. If promoted well, it would have opened big for sure. Meanwhile, as there are no notable releases in Telugu this week, trade analysts are predicting Chhaava to do well this weekend.

If it manages to generate positive talk in B and C centres, the movie is expected to do wonders at the box office. But everything depends on word of mouth now. Chhaava is a biographical drama based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s son Chhatrapati Shambaji Maharaj.

The film was directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan.
