IPL: Not Rahul But This Player To Lead Delhi Capitals?

Although the Champions Trophy fever is over, fans are still celebrating India’s triumph in the tournament. Meanwhile, the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League is around the corner, and cricket fans will be entertained from March 22.

Ahead of IPL 2025, all teams have finalised their captain except one. We are talking about Delhi Capitals, which is considering not KL Rahul but another player for the captaincy position.

In the mega auction last year, Delhi Capitals let go of its captain, Rishab Pant. In return, it bought star batter KL Rahul for Rs. 14 crore.

Considering Rahul’s experience in the IPL, everyone thought Delhi would be making him the skipper. However, we now hear that the team management is considering Axar Patel as the captaincy option.

Though Rahul has led Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants in the past, he has failed to win them trophies. He was especially criticized for his GIS captaincy last year. Thus, Delhi is planning to give him more freedom as a player rather than handing over the responsibility of leading the team.

On the other side, Axar Patel is an able all-rounder who has experience of being a part of Delhi Capitals for a long time. As he knows the management well, he is being considered as the first option for captaincy. Anyway, we will get an official confirmation regarding the captain in a few days.
