In the 13th game of Indian Premier League, Punjab Kings registered a victory against Lucknow Supergiants. PBKS won the game by 8 wickets.
Toss:
PBKS won the toss and decided to bowl first.
First Innings:
As PBKS welcomed the LSG to bat first, they were able to manage to restrict the opponent team to a score of 171. Except Mitchell Marsh and Rishab Pant, the rest of the players managed to contribute to the score. Nicholas Pooran scored 44 runs in 30 balls. Ayush Badoni made 41 runs. Altogether in 20 overs, for the loss of ten wickets, LSG scored 171 runs. Arshdeep Singh took 3 wickets and impressed. Team LSG scored well but 171 was not enough on this pitch and they could have scored a little more.
Second Innings:
It is sheer dominance of the PBKS batters ever since the second innings began. The opening batsman Prabhsimran Singh scored 69 off 34 balls, of which there are 9 fours and 3 sixes. He snatched the game away from LSG and kept his team in a comfortable state. He built a partnership with Shreyas Iyer after Priyansh was out. Afte Prabhsimran’s departure, captain Shreyas Iyer took the charge in chasing the total at a rapid pace and scored a half century. Nehal Wadhera also joined Iyer in finishing the game by 17th over.
In a nutshell:
After losing the first game, LSG scored success in their second. However, the poor form of captain Rishab Pant along with key batters is restricting the team from scoring big. On the flip side, this is PBKS’ second game and they are continuing their success form. Team PBKS is being led by Shreyas Iyer on a positive note, giving freedom to both batsmen and bowlers to play their natural game. PBKS looked strong and played a smart game to secure a victory.
Scorecard:
LSG: 171/7 (20)
PBKS: 177/2 (16.2)
