CSK Torn Apart Again: Biggest Weakness Exposed

Chennai Super Kings was once one of the most celebrated and consistent teams in the IPL. But after the captaincy transition happened from Dhoni to Ruturaj Gaikwad, things haven’t been going smoothly for this franchise at any level.

This year has been particularly poor for Chennai Super Kings as they have lost four out of the five games that they have played till now. The worst thing is that every single loss has come from the lack of intent in the batting department.

Despite the fact that Dhoni has been delivering captaincy tips from behind the wicket, this simply isn’t enough for Ruturaj Gaikwad to lead his team from the front. 

The main problem that is being observed in the case of Chennai Super Kings, now is the lack of adequate intent at the top of the order. Opening combination of Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra is simply not working out. They have been pretty stagnated with the power till now.

And coming to the middle order, this is rather very shaky. Ruturaj Gaikwad is getting some runs, but he is striking at less than 180 strike rate. Shivam Dubey is inconsistent. Ravindra Jadeja is aging, and he can’t be relied upon. Dhoni is coming out when it’s already too late. 

But we need to take out Dhoni from this equation as he is 43 years old already and is playing the game, just for the love of it.

The old Chennai Super Kings that had incredible consistency and intent at the top of the order has completely disintegrated now. Even fans are calling for change of captaincy from Ruturaj Gaikwad, who doesn’t appear to have the adequate captaincy material. But at the same time, Dhoni cannot be the captain at this point in his career. 

While Chennai Super Kings always had an age, things were never this incoherent with the side. It would take some doing to get out of this treacherous situation and lead the side back to winning ways.
