For the last couple of seasons, there have been endless debates and speculation about the potential retirement of MS Dhoni from IPL. There was this one affirmative statement from Dhoni a couple of years back when he was asked about his retirement and he replied “certainly not”.
But considering the age factor and also the depleting form of Chennai Super Kings, Dhoni was again asked about his possible retirement in an indirect manner today.
When Dhoni stepped out for the toss today, the commentator asked him if he would be stepping out again next year. To which, Dhoni replied “I don’t know. I’m coming for the next game.”
While Dhoni obviously did not confirm whether or not, he would be a part of the next season. He strategically stated that he would certainly be coming out for the next game, which is anyway expected.
This statement from Dhoni drew a loud cheer from the Chennai crowd, who are still backing their legendary captain despite the horrendous season.
Meanwhile, Chennai has made another shaky start to the game as the scorecard reads 48-3 in the powerplay.
