The ongoing season of IPL has witnessed its first relegation in the form of the exit of Chennai Super Kings. Chennai has become the first team to be eliminated from the league in the group stages, and this season could not have gone any worse for them.
After a defeat against Punjab in their home ground, Chennai has practically exited the tournament, and this is courtesy of their disastrous performance this year.
After having played 10 games till now, Chennai has emerged victorious in only two of them and have lost eight. Subsequently, the Chennai-based franchise is at the 10th position on the points table and is now the first team to be eliminated from the tournament, right in the group stages.
More importantly, and concerningly Chennai has absolutely bottled it in their homeground of Chepauk this year. The results in the last four games at this home stadium for Chennai have been as below:
– Lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
– Lost to Delhi Capitals.
– Lost to Kolkata Knight Riders.
– Lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
– Lost to Punjab Kings.
This is the worst ever season for Chennai in terms of ranking on the points table and also head to head the record at the Chepauk Stadium. They have failed at every possible level in this ongoing season.
