CSK Did It After 6 Years, Sinks KKR!

Chennai Super Kings has been one of the worst performing teams in this year’s season of IPL 2025, but they are not going down without a fight in the closing stages of league games. The Chennai team has now registered a comprehensive win against Kolkata Knight Riders.

In the game between Kolkata and Chennai, the former needed a substantial win against the Dhoni-led team to stay afloat in the tournament.  

Tune with this, Kolkata managed to reach a score of 179 runs in their first innings. At one point, Chennai looked very comfortable to chase this target as they were needing around 50 runs in the final seven overs, thanks to quick fire knocks from Brewis and Urvil. But Kolkata dragged things back and brought it to 18 runs from the last two overs. 

But thanks to some effective hitting from Shivam Dube and Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the closing stages, Chennai managed to register a comfortable win. Incidentally, this happens to be the first time that Chennai managed to chase down a target of over 180 runs in the last six years.

This could not have come at a more worse time for Kolkata who badly needed a win against Chennai to stay in the race for the playoffs. CSK was anyway a sunk ship and they’ve now partly taken KKR with them after this game. KKR’s playoff chances are nearly evaporated now unless a miracle happens.
