One of the crucial encounters in the ongoing season of the IPL is going to happen between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans today. This game could potentially shape up the outcome of the tournament this year.
It has already been established that Punjab is no match to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, so it is now the responsibility of either Mumbai or Gujarat to put up a comprehensive performance.
As is known the winner of the game between Mumbai and Gujarat today will be taking on Punjab in the Qualifier 2 which is scheduled for tomorrow.
But there is a pretty significant problem for Mumbai Indians here in this game as they appear to be depleted of resources. They are losing out on two crucial players who had been an integral part of the side for the last few weeks.
The absence of Rickleton and Will Jacks is going to be a headache as they left for national duties (WTC) and won’t be available. It is all but confirmed that Rohit Sharma will open the innings with Jonny Bairstow today and this is going to be a crucial change in personnel.
But nevertheless, it must be noted that both Rickleton and Jacks have been in the in-form players for Mumbai. The Mumbai side will be a depleted unit without the services of these two players, so it has to be seen how they would cope with the same.
Even in terms of head to head record, Gujarat is well ahead of Mumbai as they have won 5 out of the total 7 times that they’ve faced Mumbai. It has to be seen if Champion side Mumbai will be able to overhaul Gujarat tonight.
