From Most Trolled Captain To IPL Champion?

Just before the start of the 2025 season Royal Challengers Bengaluru took an extremely unexpected decision with regard to the captaincy choice. Against all odds, they announced Rajat Patidar as their captain which was rather under the radar. 

Shortly after this announcement, Patidar was brutally trolled on social media. Many people commented that he is possibly the least favourite option for a big franchise like RCB and he was in the midst of a social media meltdown. 

However, the talented cricketer has proved everyone wrong as he went from being the most trolled captain in the league to the champion of the IPL. In fact, he took RCB to their first ever title win in the 18 years of their existence. 

Rajat has shown great character and resilience in tough times as he stood firm and eventually took RCB all the way to the trophy win. After having tried several captains and failing miserably in the past, RCB have found a new suitor in Rajat Patidar. 

While a few might still argue that there’s very little that Rajat did to actually be credited for the trophy, it needs to be acknowledged that he brought the team together and delivered the most important result. This is all that matters for RCB at the moment.
