That Brutal Mistake Costed Punjab IPL Trophy!

After having shown great fight since the start of the 2025 season, Punjab Kings faltered when it mattered the most. They came up short in the run chase against Bengaluru in the final and ended their season with a big heartbreak.

However, there was this one crucial mistake that Punjab did, which eventually costed them big time, and here is looking into this blunder decision.

At the halfway mark of the second innings, when Punjab needed a solid player to steer them out of trouble, they sent young Nehal Wadhera for the job. This was possibly the worst option that they could have taken at this point in time.

While a big hitting and experienced player like Marcus Stoinis was sitting on the bench, Punjab had the audacity to send out Nehal who played a lazy innings that ended up costing his team. 

While the required rate was consistently about 10 runs through the course of the evenings, Nehal scored 15 from 18 which completely derailed Punjab. Had Punjab think tank acted smart and sent Stoinis, things could’ve been completely different. 

Australian players, and particularly big hitting players like Stoinis was what was needed. Sadly for Punjab, by the time Stoinis came out to bat, where he scored 6 from 2, things were already going south. 

In the end, Punjab lost the game by just 6 runs and this largely comes down to the slow innings in the middle portion. Had their players shown a bit more intent in the middle overs, the game could’ve easily been theirs.
