From ‘Stupid’ to ‘Super’: Rishabh Pant’s Redemption

There was once a time when Rishab Pant was one of the most celebrated youngsters in Indian cricket. But due to consistent failures in the limited over format, he lost the sheen to a large degree.

But the good thing is that he has been one of the most consistent performers for India in the test format. He was instrumental in the record, breaking win against Australia, a couple of years ago and has been on a trajectory of resurrection since. 

Coming to the topic now, Rishabh Pant was absolutely brilliant with the bat in the opening test match against England. He is one of the three centuries in the first innings and was ruthless with the bat. 

Rishab was earlier referred to as a temperamental batsman who had no control over his game. Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar even referred to his game as “Stupid”. From here, the comeback story was always going to be hard for Path, but he stayed true to his game and has started to deliver now. 

The brilliant innings against England in the opening test match has gone on to enhance his confidence. The very same, Sunil Gavaskar referred to Pant’s innings as “Superb” when he got to his 100 with a smashing six. 

Pant is very well on a trajectory of a strong comeback as he is promising something big in this crucial passage of his test career.
