India has been the most dominant side in the ongoing season of the Asia Cup tournament, but their game against Oman last night had a few scars associated with it.
After being put to bat first, India scored 188 runs which was formidable target on a slow pitch. Then came the task of defending this total, which looked certain against a small team like Oman.
However, a spirited performance from Oman resulted in the running closer than expected. In the end, India ended up defeating Oman by a margin of 21 runs as the game had a few twists and turns in the second innings. Oman got to 167 runs against the world T20 champions which was a bit surprising.
At one point, Oman ended up needing 40 runs from three overs and it could have been anyone’s game from this point. But some brilliant death bowling from India resulted in a significant victory as only 20 runs were conceded in the final three overs.
But not many expected Oman to come this close to India in the first place and that’s a scare for India ahead of the upcoming Super Four stage where they will face Pakistan on September 21.
