After a really long time, we got to witness Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli on the cricket field and this happened in the first ODI game against Australia today. However, all the anticipation got evaporated rather quickly as both these legendary superstars fell very quickly.
Rohit Sharma scored 8 runs from 14 deliveries before getting out caught in the bowling of Hazelwood. This was followed by a quick procession as even Virat Kohli got out for a duck in the bowling of Mitchel Starc.
Incidentally, this happens to be the first time that Virat Kohli got out for a duck in an Australian ODI series since his debut in Australia in 2012.
Amidst all the anticipation that was riding on this game and the presence of Rohit and Kohli, the two superstars disappointed fans big time with their poor performance on the field with the bat. Neither of them could spend significant amount at the crease and left India in a deep mess with the current scorecard reading 37-3.
It is now the responsibility of the Indian middle order to bail the team out of this messy situation and it is going to be a challenge in itself against the Australian bowling lineup on a green pitch.
