Yesterday was a pretty uncharacteristically horrifying day for the Indian cricket scene. In a span of a few hours, the men’s and women’s team delivered back to back shocks to fans.
First, it was the comprehensive defeat for the Indian men’s team against Australia in the first ODI game of the series. India could not succeed in any department, be it batting or bowling as they conceded almost one sidedly to Australia in this crucial game.
Then this was followed by another significant defeat for the women’s team in the ongoing 50 over World Cup. India lost the game to England by a narrow margin of just four runs, despite having been in a comfortable position to win the game for the major majority of the time.
The men’s team is in the defensive position now after having conceded 1-0 lead to Australia in the ODI series. And on the other hand, we have the Women’s team, which is on the cusp of elimination after having lost three consecutive games to South Africa, Australia and England.
This has to be classified as a horrifying day for Indian cricket fans with back-to-back defeats through the course of the day yesterday.
