The Indian women’s team has created history in the World Cup by becoming the first team ever to chase down a target in excess of 300 runs. India successfully chased down the target of 339 runs that was said by Australia and this was largely due to a heroic knock from 25 year old Jemimah Rodrigues.
The 25 year-old youngster came to bat when India was in deep trouble while the scorecard read 13-1.
Jemimah Rodrigues, who happens to be one of the most talented youngsters in the Indian women’s team played with a lot of composure while the team kept losing wickets at crucial intervals.
In the end, a breathtaking knock of 127 runs from the young Jemimah meant that India chased down this massive target with 9 balls to spare. This will easily go on as one of the best ever batting performances by any Indian cricketer in the World Cup.
The interesting observation here is that one of the youngest players in the team played one of the most crucial marks in the history of Indian women’s cricket and this is an achievement in itself.
In the meanwhile, India will next be facing South Africa in the crucial finale that is going to be held on Sunday and a win here will complete a historic run for India in the World Cup.
