Kolkata Knight Riders took a pretty shocking decision when they announced that they would not be retaining Andre Russell for the upcoming season. Subsequently, he is up for sale in the auction now and is likely to fetch a big price.
In this context, there is a growing demand on social media as SRH fans have been pushing the franchise to go for, and somehow get him in the auction.
The argument from fans is that Russell is one of the most destructive players, and if he can be paired with Klaasen in the SRH middle order, then the finishing capabilities will be amplified multiple times. They are commenting that SRH will be an untouchable side if Russel fits into the middle order.
But considering the fact that SRH has a little over ₹25 crore left in the purse before the big auction in December, it should be interesting to see if they would actually go after Russell.
It must also be noted that SRH already has a destructive batting lineup, including Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Reddy, Ishan Kishan, Heinrich Klaasen and others. It is also a point of necessity, whether Russell would be needed in this destructive order. SRH might look for good bowling options, especially after trading out Shami and Zampa.
