In view of the attacks and antisocial crimes against the Hindu community in Bangladesh, India has started to take reciprocative measures. In the first line of duty, it was established that Bangladeshi cricket player Mustafizur Rahman has been removed from the upcoming IPL season.
After it was communicated that Rahman is not going to be a part of the upcoming IPL season, Bangladesh cricket board took a radical decision.
Yesterday, they had communicated that they would not be participating in the upcoming T20 World Cup matches in India and asked to shift the venue to Sri Lanka.
Today it has been communicated by Bangladesh television network that they would not be broadcasting the upcoming IPL season in the country. This is in response to the exclusion of Mustafizur Rahman from IPL.
This needs to be considered as a radical decision by the Bangladesh authorities as IPL is the most successful and watched cricket league in the world. Banning the super popular tournament is only going to affect Bangladesh and not the other way around.
More importantly, IPL had been a crucial source of revenue to players across the globe, and it is one of the most reputed competitions. It is really strange to see Bangladesh losing out on such revenue opportunities(through advertisements) just to punch above their weight.
