Not long before the start of the T20 World Cup, several doubts and concerns were raised about the form of Captain Surya Kumar Yadav. He was very unpredictable with the bat and was not able to register big scores.

But Surya Kumar Yadav came back to form at just the right moment in the recent New Zealand series, and the good thing is that he is continuing on this momentum now. 

The latest performance of Surya Kumar Yadav in the opening game of the T20 World Cup has been nothing short of exemplary. While the entire team was struggling on an unusually unpredictable Hyderabad surface, Surya was absolutely brilliant with the bat. 

At one point, India was in deep trouble as the scorecard rate 77-6 with the departure of Hardik Pandya. But this was when Surya Kumar Yadav played one of his very best innings for India as he lived up to his captaincy tag. 

Everyone was shocked to see India struggle so badly against a small team like the United States in the opening match of the T20 World Cup, but Surya Kumar had other ideas. 

A superbly constructed innings of 84 by Suryakumar Yadav completely changed the tide for India, as they moved from a struggling 77 to 161 in quick time. Living up to the expectations of captaincy, Surya delivered one of his finest performances.
