India has completed the group stages of the ongoing T20 World Cup in a very comprehensive manner by winning every single game. India is one of the very few teams in the tournament to maintaining an unbeaten run till now and things are looking positive.
However, the game against Netherlands last night came with its own set of challenges as India elected to bat first for the first time in the tournament. This is a crucial challenge ahead of the upcoming knockout super 8 series where India will be facing top teams like South Africa.
In the first innings, India managed to score 193 runs, which look to be a pretty formidable total against a team like Netherlands. However, things changed very quickly as Netherlands came out with good intent with the bat.
Netherlands might have not been able to win the game, but they scored 176 runs against the title favourite Indian bowling lineup, which is a point of concern.
Ideally, India would have been expecting to win by margin of at least 50 runs or more. But Netherlands put up a strong fight, and Indian bowlers were also lethargic, which resulted in a fighting second innings.
India will have to be a lot more conservative and lethal in the upcoming stages while teams like South Africa, England, and New Zealand, look to get the better of the Indian bowling lineup.
