Influencer Premieres & ‘Blockbuster’ Tags – Are Makers Opting For Dangerous Trend ?

Promotions before a movie release are very important, especially for small-budget films and newcomers.

Many small movies do not have big stars or huge marketing budgets. Because of this, they depend on smart and creative promotional strategies to create initial buzz. There are many examples where good promotions have helped a small film become a profitable venture. However, in the end, only good content can truly sustain a movie.

Recently, a worrying trend has been seen in Tollywood. Some new Telugu filmmakers are trying to create artificial hype through social media promotions. They are said to be organizing private premieres, couple of days before the release for a few social media influencers. After that, these so-called influencers spread positive talk through tweets and reels, no matter what the actual result of the film is.

By the time the movie officially releases in theatres, these paid campaigns creating confusion among the public. Instead of genuine audience excitement, such promotions build a false image of success.

The hype may look big online, but it does not reflect the real response from the audience. Earlier, once a movie was released, the content would speak for itself. If the film was good, word of mouth would spread naturally. Positive reviews from critics and audience reactions would slowly build the film’s success. Even small films used to become strong after release because people genuinely liked them.

Now, some campaigns are going in a different direction. There are reports of bulk ticket buying to show fake houseful boards. Some small-time influencers are being paid to post that the movie is a “blockbuster,” even before real audience talk begins. This creates confusion and damages the trust of viewers.

Artificial hype may give makers temporary satisfaction, but the real result always comes from the public. If the content is weak, the audience will reject it quickly. In the end, only good stories and honest filmmaking can bring real success.

Organic promotions definitely help a film reach the audience before release, but false hype cannot survive for long. Audiences today are smart. They can easily understand what is real and what is fake promotion. Finally, content is king, and genuine word of mouth will always win.
