How Much Money India Gets For Winning WC?

India has scripted history by becoming the first team to defend that T20 World Cup and also win this very same trophy three times. Subsequently, the famous victory against New Zealand last night warranted huge celebrations across the country.

Coming to the financial side of things, let us have a look at the kind of money that India would be making for winning the T20 World Cup.

The ICC will be granting the Indian national team apprise money of $3 million, and this roughly converts to ₹27 crore and a bit more. This will be equally distributed amongst the players and coaching staff, and the chances are that the BCCI could be adding additional financial resources as a token of gift.

New Zealand, which had lost the finals will be getting around $1.6 million which is roughly Rs 14 crore. The teams that lost the semi-final will be getting around ₹7.5 crore each.

The total prize money for the ICC World Cup is around ₹120 crore. And as expected, the winner of the tournament will be walking away with the highest prize money, and in this case, it is India.
