Beware IPL Lovers: Don’t Ruin Your Lives!

As we had been extensively reporting the 2026 season of IPL is starting today with the opening game scheduled to be played between Bengaluru and Hyderabad. While this might be promising news to Cricket fans, there’s also a detrimental impact of the same on the society. 

Every year, we keep hearing countless stories about people who ruin their lives with IPL batting as they lose money by betting on their favourite teams. In the last three or four years itself, we had been hearing about possibly thousands of suicide due to cricket betting. 

Reacting on this matter, Hyderabad city commissioner of police, VC Sajjanar made a consolidated statement. 

As the IPL season begins, we urge everyone to enjoy cricket only as a sport. Do not ruin your life by falling into the trap of betting. In the past, the government banned hundreds of betting apps. However, betting has now taken new forms through social media platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp, and Instagram.

We will take strict action against social media influencers who promote these dangerous apps just for money. Our teams are also keeping a close watch on offline betting happening in farmhouses and secret locations, he stated. 

We would also like to urge our Gulte readers and also the common public in general about the negative effects of cricket bettings. Not a single person has benefited in his life from betting and trying against this norm is never safe. Always maintain safe distance from this antisocial activity and also guide your near and dear ones away from it.
