Royal Challengers Bengaluru created history last year by winning the IPL trophy for the first time in 18 years. And ever, since then they have been a completely different beast altogether.
The momentum is being carried in the 2026 season of IPL as well and this was on display in the game last night when RCB faced Gujarat.
Gujarat batted first, and they scored a reasonably good 205 runs in the first innings. It was expected that this would be a pretty decent target on a mixed surface.
However, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who had been in supreme form in recent times, made light work of this run chase as they completed it with an over to spare.
RCB ended up winning the game by a margin of five wickets and an over to spare. This is a very authoritative way to complete a run of over 200 runs.
RCB is currently on the second position on the points table, and they have another super promising season of IPL to look forward to considering the strong form that they’ve been displaying.
This brings us to the big question whether RCB would be able to continue the momentum in the 2026 season as well and actually go all the way to winning the title again this year.
