Cigarettes & Vapes: Why IPL Players Losing Mind?

Athlete are expected to maintain peak physical conditions, and that is the reason why many of them don’t dimple in alcohol and cigarettes. But that doesn’t mean, everyone follows the same protocol as there might be some people who have the drinking habit and also smoke around.

But over the last couple of weeks, we have been witnessing something strange with the IPL, which hasn’t necessarily been in the case with the league in recent times.

Earlier there was a video of Gujarat player, Kagiso Rabada smoking cigarette outside the team lobby. He was surrounded by a few members of the Gujarat staff and the visuals of him smoking a cigarette after the game went viral.

There was a huge backlash on the topic as people felt it isn’t right on the part of Rabada to be smoking and this visual coming out on social media as many kids take him as a inspiration, and this is not a right example.

And now we have the case of Rajasthan Royals, captain Riyan Parag, who himself has been caught on camera live in the game yesterday, smoking a vape inside the dressing room.

This is an even more atrocious case, considering the fact that Parag was captured smoking a vape inside the dressing room while the match was happening. This visual has invited a lot of criticism again now.

The visuals of IPL players smoking cigarettes, and vapes are starting to come out in increasingly common these days and this isn’t the right example.

At the end of the day, they are humans too, and are bound to have certain habits. But considering the vast penetration of the league and the following amongst children, IPL players must refrain from public smoking at all times. It is perhaps the responsibility of BCCI to make it happen.
