One of the most important games of the ongoing season of IPL 2026 happened in the form of the Clash between Punjab and Bengaluru today. Bengaluru was already in a comfortable position at the top of the table, and it was the responsibility of Punjab to win this game to stay in the play-off race.
However, Punjab was very bad with the ball and with their field department as they let RCB score a mighty 222 in the first innings.
In response to this, Punjab was very bad with the bat, except for certain cameos from Shashank S Singh and Marcus Stoinis. Subsequently, they ended up losing this crucial game, but could have promoted them in the play-off race.
Subsequently, Punjab are now left dependent on the result of the upcoming Chennai Super Kings game against Hyderabad. If Chennai wins this game, then they will progress above Punjab on the points table and stay in a better position for the playoff race.
It needs to be said that RCB has delivered superb news to Chennai fans by winning against Punjab. But the real challenge for Chennai is going to be to win against Sunrisers Hyderabad tomorrow.
Punjab have now lost six consecutive games in IPL 2026, and this will go on as one of the biggest and most dramatic downfalls in recent years. A team that was at the top of the table at the halfway point is now on the brink of elimination.
