The IPL is one of the most iconic sporting tournaments in the world and it keeps the Indian cricket fans engaged for a period of near the couple of months during the peak summer season.
Now we are hearing that there could be a significant change of plans for the upcoming IPL 2027 season and the governing body is actively discussing the same.
According to one of the principal members of the IPL governing body, it is being established that IPL 2027 could be preponed by a considerable margin due to the peak summer season.
Apparently, the management is of the opinion that peak summer season by the end of March is creating extreme heat conditions in the stadium, which is troubling the players and also fans. So they are considering the idea of preponing the tournament by nearly 3 weeks.
The current IPL season, which started on March 28 went on till May 31, and there is a chance that IPL 2027 could be starting on March 10 itself. This is an attempt from the IPL body to safeguard the league from extreme heat.
Starting the tournament early and finishing it comparatively earlier would leave the players and fans less exposed to extreme summer heat, and this is the ideology behind the preponement.
So even if the number of games are increased in the coming seasons, we could be witnessing more double headed games in a lesser period. But this is just an idea in contemplation, and nothing is official for now.
