Is Hardik Pandya Ruining His Career On His Own?

There was once a time when Hardik Pandya was one of the most sought after IPL players in the league. Literally, every team wanted a piece of him, thanks to his insane all-round capabilities. 

But it was Mumbai Indians who made him the superstar that he is today, and he still decided to leave the team for Gujarat Titans in the auction that happened earlier. He even won the IPL trophy with Gujarat has very first campaign and reached the final in the next season.

But things have been going down for him after he left Gujarat to come back to Mumbai in 2024, as he has been failing as a player and as a captain, while Mumbai has also gone South. 

So it is going to be a matter of time before Hardik moves out of Mumbai and there are multiple teams like Chennai, Kolkata, and Gujarat, which are in the contention. 

However, the latest developments are suggesting that Gujarat has decided to pull back from the move to Hardik Pandya after he insisted on becoming the captain again.

This is perfectly logical, considering that Gujarat had to settle a lot of internal conflict after Hardik Pandya left as the captain. They had to appoint Shubman Gill, and he has been doing reasonably well as well. 

So now, if Hardik Pandya is to return to Gujarat, they simply can’t afford the captaincy drama again. In accordance with this, the latest developments are suggesting that Hardik has made it clear that he will return to Gujarat only if he is made the captain. This was outrightly rejected by Gujarat, and they pulled back on the deal.

Hardik needs a solid team to revive his IPL career at this point, and the best possible option should have been to go back to Gujarat, where he tasted so much success. But his tennis to hold on the captaincy position appears to have distorted this move too. 

Many people are commenting that Hardik appears to be messing up his own career with his captaincy demand as no team is ready to invite him and immediately make him the captain. Kolkata appears to be an exception, but it appears that Hardik is keeping his options open for now.
