The stage is being prepared for the 2027 season of the Indian Premier League, as things are starting to size up with the upcoming auction likely to be held in December. In the meanwhile, teams have started to make adequate changes at the leadership level.
The most significant alteration came in the form of Mumbai Indians, completely revamping their coaching department.
Kieron Pollard, who had been one of the hallmark players for Mumbai Indians over the years, has returned to the franchise as the head coach, and this is one of the principal decisions made by the five time IPL champions.
Pollard is a perfect match for Mumbai Indians as he has the champion mindset, which is exactly what Mumbai needs at this point after five years of consecutive failure. Also, the imminent departure of Captain Hardik Pandya could bring back the old chemistry of the team under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.
Along with that, Mumbai has completely changed their entire coaching panel and had appointed Robin Uthappa as the batting coach yesterday. It is evident that the Mukesh Ambani owned team is doing everything in their power to bring up the most scary team of IPL 2027.
In reality, Mumbai had always been a champion team on paper, and it was always coming down to the execution, which was not going their way in the recent years. But with a complete change in the leadership and coaching level, Mumbai appear to be the team to beat in the 2027 season if they tick the right boxes again.
