Rahul Dravid To Coach Team India

Rahul Dravid, who is known as ‘The Wall’ or ‘The Great Wall Of India’, is going to be the new coach of Team India. Dravid is going to coach the team during the Sri Lanka tour. This news came ahead of the selection of the final team for the Lanka series. It is learnt that the coaching trio Ravi Shastri, Bharat Arun and Vikram Rathour would be in England with the Test team.

A BCCI official, who is in the know, has corroborated Dravid’s appointment as the Coach for Lanka tour.

“The Team India coaching staff will be in the UK and it is best that the young team is guided by an experienced Cricketer like Dravid as he has already worked with almost all of the India ‘A’ boys. The comfort the youngsters share with him will be an added advantage,” the BCCI official said.

Dravid has vast experience as the Captain of Team India. Currently, Dravid heads the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Earlier Dravid had served as the Batting Consultant for the Indian Team during the England tour back in 2014.

Before his appointment as NCA head in 2019, Dravid had closely worked with the present crop of youngsters in the Indian team at the Under-19 level as well as in the India ‘A’ team.

Dravid was a dependable batsman known for hanging on to pitch. He was a  consistent performer which earned him a great reputation and crisis-shooter, trouble-shooter in the team when he had played. His coaching is expected to boost the performance of the Indian Team in the Sri Lanka tour.
