COVID-19: Armenia’s PM And His Family Test Positive

In a series of shocking COVID19 events, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his whole family has been tested positive for the novel virus. Pashinyan took the news by posting a videotaped statement on his Facebook account.

“My coronavirus test was positive yesterday,” he said. He added that his wife-journalist Anna Hakobyan and their four children have also been infected. He continued saying that he has been asymptomatic all the while but he had taken the test as a precaution before a planned visit to military positions in the country.

The PM hsa been tested positive just one month after Armenia lifted a state of emergency imposed in March. However, he said he shall be working and take care of the country’s affairs from home itself. The 3-million populated Armenia has 9,500 confirmed cases of the virus and 139 deaths with the novel virus skyrocketing in the south Caucasus nation.
