#TokyoOlympics: Coach Proposes To Fencer In Front Of TV Cameras

While athletes are busy prepping for the game and trying to smash down the title among many looking to grab the spot, here’s Argentine fencer Maria Belen Perez Maurice and her coach did something surprising and out of the box.

Belen accepted a marriage proposal from her coach in front of television cameras at the Olympics on Monday.

After a first-round exit in her third Olympics, Belen was quite upset. As she was answering questions to a reporter in great disappointment, her coach, Lucas Guillermo Saucedo, appeared behind her with a piece of paper in his hand reading “Do you want to marry me?”.

Kneeling on the ground, “Tell me yes, a lot of people are looking at us,” he said. In fact, back in 2010, Saucedo tried a similar stunt at the world championships in Paris. However, luck was not with his side and she replied: “Is this a joke or what?”

Now, after a whopping eleven years, Belen said ‘’yes’’. It was later revealed that the two are in a long-time relationship and Belen said “I was speechless. I said to myself ‘Oh my God’. We’re going to celebrate it in Argentina around a big Asado.”
